CHASING

I am not a runner…but I run.  I chase. I follow. I pursue.  We all do.  We pursue after dreams, we chase after fads, we pursue goals and we follow after our dreams.  It’s what we have been taught to do since we were born.  After all we were born into the greatest country in the world where we have that basic right to pursue our dreams.  It’s part of our identity.  We want nicer houses, nicer cars, nicer clothes.  We want to have what everyone else has.  It’s part of our culture and it’s part of our nature.
These things are not necessarily bad but we have to be very careful of our motives don’t we.

Matthew 6:19-20 says
“19 Don’t store up treasures here on earth where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”

I am guilty! I want things…more things…better things…cooler things.  I don’t run very hard after them but it so easy for me to become misguided when I see someone else’s Harley or someone else’s newer cooler jeep. At the end of the day I know that those things will never satisfy and will not define who I am.  When we go on to be with Jesus for eternity I want treasures to lay at His feet as lay before Him in gratitude for all He has given and done for me! Oh that we would run after the things of God and that our desires would be in pleasing Him.
