Safety within the Boundaries

If the Lord hadn’t called me into ministry I think I would have loved being a cop!  Mason, Hudson, and I love to watch cops and now LIVE PD.  I think it’s just a cool job and you can help so many different types of people.  I remember at one holiday gathering my cousin’s husband and I were talking about his new job as a police officer.  He had been a pastor and got burned out in his early thirties and went back to school to become a police officer.  He began to tell me about his first police chase he had recently encountered.  He chased down a guy on foot, did a professional football tackle on the guy, and screamed “Get on your face dirtbag!!” while he handcuffed him.  He turned around and noticed the veteran officers were all laughing at him at the way he acted like a TV policeman. It turns out they don’t really act like the TV shows…(except Live PD and cops cause those are real).

As we have been going through our series “Summer in the Psalms” there is a common theme that I continually see resurface time and time again.  There is safety within the boundaries the Lord has set for us as His children.  When we choose to step outside of those boundaries pain and consequence follows. Proverbs says it this way.

'Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful.’
Proverbs 16:20

I want joy in my life! I want to prosper in the things I attempt for the Lord.  I want to live within God’s set boundaries rather than step outside of them and suffer the consequences. I love the Word of God, and I love God’s Instructions.  Let’s take some time and thank the Lord for the safety provided within His boundaries.  He keeps us safe and renews our joy!
